Collect documents before the portal opens

Passport scan, transcripts, English test, and two referees who have already said yes. Do not ask a teacher the night before. Give them the deadline, the programme name, and three lines on what you want them to stress.

Match the fund, not your dream list

Read who the award is for. Country, subject, and income rules are filters, not suggestions. Applying everywhere wastes essays and makes your writing thinner.

Write the budget like an accountant

Tuition, rent, insurance, and a small line for books. Inflated numbers look careless. Missing numbers look unprepared. If the fund publishes a cap, stay under it and say how you cover the rest.

Submit two days early

Portals stall. Time zones confuse. A scan that looked fine on your phone fails the upload. Early is the only buffer that works. Save a PDF of the confirmation page.
