Sindh Talent Hunt Program (STHP) 2027: Sukkur IBA Scholarship, Eligibility and How to Apply

If you finished your intermediate in Sindh in the last three years and a four-year degree at a good university has felt out of reach because of money, read this one slowly. Sukkur IBA University, working together with the Government of Sindh, has announced the Sindh Talent Hunt Program (STHP) 2027. It is one of the few programs in the province that pays your tuition, gives you a monthly stipend, and puts you on the Main Campus in Sukkur, all on a merit-cum-need basis.

The last date to apply is October 29, 2026, and the admission test is on November 8, 2026. That is not a lot of time, so I have tried to put everything you need on one page: who can apply, what you actually get, which degrees are covered, how to apply online, and how to use the next few weeks to prepare for the test.

What is the Sindh Talent Hunt Program?

STHP is a talent search for bright students from Sindh who may not be able to afford a university education on their own. The idea is simple. Instead of only looking at marks, Sukkur IBA looks for students who have the ability and the need, and then gives them a proper start.

It works in two stages. First, through a merit-cum-need process, 200 students are selected for a Foundation Semester. During that semester you study three courses:

  1. English
  2. Mathematics
  3. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

Then, from those 200 students, the top 100 who reach a minimum GPA of 2.2 are offered the STHP Scholarship for a degree program at Sukkur IBA University's Main Campus, as per the university's admission policy.

So think of the foundation semester as a bridge. It fills the gaps that many of us carry from school and college, especially in English and Maths, and it also gives the university a fair way to see who is ready for a demanding four-year degree. Doing well in that semester is the real goal, not just passing the entry test.

Who can apply for STHP 2027?

According to the official advertisement, the selection criteria are:

  • You must have passed Intermediate or equivalent from any board in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
  • You must have the domicile of Sindh Province. This one is clearly marked as a requirement, so do not skip it.
  • Selection is made on a merit-cum-need basis, which means both your ability and your financial situation are considered.

Notice that it says "any board". You do not need to be from a particular district or board within Sindh, but you do need a Sindh domicile. If you passed intermediate earlier than 2024, the advertisement does not include you.

The ad points to the official announcements page for the full eligibility criteria. Sukkur IBA usually publishes the detailed documents there, so open it and read the eligibility file yourself. If anything there differs from what I have written, the official document is the one that counts.

What you get: foundation semester vs regular semester

This is the part most students care about, so here it is in one table, straight from the advertisement.

BenefitFoundation Semester (top 200 selected students)Regular Semester (top 100 selected students)
Tuition fee100% tuition fee waiver100% admission and tuition fee waiver for 4 years (8 semesters), subject to a minimum 2.2 CGPA
BooksFree books and manualsNot mentioned in the ad
HostelNo hostel facility during the foundation semesterNot mentioned in the ad
Living costRs. 5,500 per monthNot mentioned in the ad
StipendRs. 4,000 per monthRs. 5,000 per month (8 semesters only)

A few things worth thinking about here.

During the foundation semester there is no hostel, but the program pays Rs. 5,500 a month for living costs and Rs. 4,000 a month as a stipend. If you live outside Sukkur, sit down with your family now and work out where you would stay for those months. Students from nearby towns sometimes share a room or stay with relatives. It is much easier to plan this in October than to scramble in the middle of the semester.

In the regular semester, the fee waiver runs for the full four years, but it is tied to keeping a CGPA of at least 2.2. That condition matters. A scholarship that covers eight semesters only helps you if you protect it every single semester.

Degree programs covered by the STHP scholarship

The top 100 students can be offered the scholarship in these programs at the Main Campus (as per Sukkur IBA admission policy):

  • BBA
  • BS Computer Science
  • BS Software Engineering
  • BS Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • BE Computer Systems Engineering
  • BS Accounting and Finance
  • BS Economics
  • BS Mathematics with specialization in Data Science, or Actuarial and Risk Management
  • BE Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power, Electronics, or Telecommunication
  • BS Physical Education and Sports Sciences
  • BS Media and Communication
  • B.Ed

That is a wide spread, from engineering and computing to business, education and media. Because placement follows the university's admission policy, your intermediate group (pre-engineering, pre-medical, commerce, computer science, humanities) may affect which programs you are eligible for. Engineering programs in particular usually have their own subject requirements. Check the official eligibility document before you set your heart on one program, and have a second choice in mind.

Try to apply at least a few days before the 29th. Admission portals in Pakistan are busiest in the final 48 hours, and power cuts, slow internet or a missing scan can easily cost you a whole day.

STHP 2027 apply online: step by step

Applications are made online through the official Sukkur IBA admission portal at applyadmission.iba-suk.edu.pk. The exact screens can change from year to year, but the process generally looks like this:

  1. Read the official documents first. Go to iba-suk.edu.pk/admissions/announcements and open the "Sindh Talent Hunt Program 2027" entry. Read the eligibility criteria and any instructions before you touch the form.
  2. Open the admission portal. Visit applyadmission.iba-suk.edu.pk and create an account with an email address and phone number you actually check. Write down your login details somewhere safe.
  3. Choose the STHP 2027 program. Make sure you are applying to the Sindh Talent Hunt Program and not a different admission announcement that is open at the same time.
  4. Fill in your personal and academic details. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your CNIC or B-Form and your certificates. Enter your intermediate marks carefully.
  5. Upload your documents. Scan them clearly. Blurry phone photos are one of the most common reasons applications get stuck.
  6. Review everything, then submit. Check every field once more, especially your domicile, year of passing and board.
  7. Follow any fee or challan instructions shown on the portal, if there are any, and keep proof of payment.
  8. Save your confirmation and watch for your test slip. Keep a screenshot or PDF of your submitted application and check your email, SMS and portal account for admission test details.

How to prepare for the STHP admission test

The test is on November 8, which gives you a few weeks once you have applied. The official ad does not publish a test pattern, so check the announcement documents for a syllabus or sample paper. Since the foundation semester itself covers English, Mathematics and ICT, those three areas are a sensible place to put your energy.

English

  • Read one short article in English every day, from a newspaper or a good website, and try to summarise it in three or four sentences of your own.
  • Revise basic grammar: tenses, subject-verb agreement, prepositions and articles. These come up again and again in Pakistani entry tests.
  • Keep a small notebook of new words with one example sentence each. Ten words a day adds up quickly.
  • Practise reading comprehension under a timer. Many students know the answers but run out of time.

Mathematics

  • Go back to your matric and intermediate basics: algebra, equations, ratios and percentages, basic geometry and word problems.
  • Do problems by hand, without a calculator, unless the official instructions say calculators are allowed.
  • When you get a question wrong, write down why. Was it a concept gap, a careless sign mistake, or just rushing? Fix the pattern, not just the question.

ICT

  • Know the basics of how a computer works: hardware vs software, input and output devices, memory and storage.
  • Get comfortable with everyday tools such as word processors, spreadsheets, email and web browsing.
  • Learn basic internet safety terms, like passwords, phishing and viruses.
  • If you have access to a computer or even a smartphone, practise. Hands-on use sticks better than memorising definitions.

Practical tips

  • Make a simple timetable: for example English in the morning, Maths in the afternoon, ICT revision in the evening.
  • Take at least two full timed practice tests before November 8, using past papers or sample tests if Sukkur IBA provides them.
  • Sleep properly the night before. A tired mind makes silly mistakes in Maths.
  • Check your test centre and reporting time a day early, and plan your travel so you arrive with time to spare.

Documents to keep ready

The list below is what is generally needed for admissions like this. The final list is whatever the official portal and announcement say, so please confirm there.

  • Sindh domicile certificate (and PRC, if the portal asks for it)
  • Intermediate marks sheet or certificate (or result card, if your certificate is not yet issued)
  • Matric marks sheet or certificate
  • CNIC, or B-Form if you do not have a CNIC yet
  • Recent passport-size photographs, with a clear digital copy
  • Father's or guardian's CNIC, and any income details the form asks for, since selection is merit-cum-need

Scan each document in good light, keep the files clearly named, and save copies in your email or cloud storage so you can reach them from any device.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving it to the last day. October 29 will come faster than you expect.
  • Applying without a Sindh domicile. It is a stated requirement. If yours is still being made, start that process now.
  • Name or date mismatches between your CNIC or B-Form, certificates and the form.
  • Uploading unreadable scans or the wrong document in the wrong field.
  • Applying to the wrong announcement. Sukkur IBA often has more than one admission open at once.
  • Trusting unofficial pages or agents. Use only iba-suk.edu.pk and applyadmission.iba-suk.edu.pk. Nobody needs to be paid to "secure" your seat.
  • Treating the foundation semester lightly. Only the top 100 with at least a 2.2 GPA get the four-year scholarship.

A closing note

Programs like STHP exist because a lot of talent in Sindh never gets a fair chance, not because of ability but because of fees, distance and circumstance. If that sounds like you, or like a younger brother, sister or cousin, please do not talk yourself out of applying. Get your domicile and marks sheet in order, apply well before October 29, and give the next few weeks of English, Maths and ICT practice everything you have.

And if you know someone in a village or small town who has just finished intermediate, share this with them. Sometimes all it takes is one person telling you the door is open.

Best of luck. You have got this.
